A 5 WEEK PROGRAM FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS (GRADE 1-8)
HI FIVE FOR LIFE INCORPORATES:
MINDFULNESS: The 5 seeds are presented as self-care tools taught each week with a mindfulness approach. The growing body of research on mindfulness in school-based contexts reveals the following list of core benefits that can be summarized in 2 Wings; Attention & Emotional Regulation.
Better Focus and Concentration
Increased Sense of Calm
Decreased Stress and Anxiety
Improved Impulse Control
Increased Self Awareness
Skillful Responses to Difficult Emotions
Increased Empathy and Understanding of Others
Development of Natural Conflict Resolution Skills
INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING: Inquiry-based learning is our approach to teaching our 5 seeds that places students’ questions, ideas and observations at the centre of the learning experience around health.
We establish a culture where ideas are respectfully challenged, tested, redefined and viewed from different perspectives, moving children from a position of wondering to a position of actively understanding and further questioning around their overall health and wellbeing.
24h “BE THE CHANGE” WHEEL: During the 5th week, students are asked to create their own 24h "Be the change" wheel which represents their healthy daily routine: what they have been doing, what they've learnt during the program and what they would like to change to make it better/healthier.
